The 2024 Player's Handbook dropped Half-Elf as a playable species. Its ten species are Aasimar, Dragonborn, Dwarf, Elf, Gnome, Goliath, Halfling, Human, Orc, and Tiefling (D&D Beyond; Wargamer).

That doesn't make half-elf names less useful. Tables still running 2014 rules use the species as before, and a character with one elf and one human parent works in any edition as part of their background. These names are built for that.
